Zuza Mengham is a London based Artist and Designer. Heavily rooted in a preoccupation with materials and their stories, her work explores the join between the recovery of traditional crafts and the creation of her own new methods of making, ranging from giant steel and neon chandeliers housing hanging plants to small geometric glassy sculptures.
For London Design Fair Zuza will be presenting a new series of Lichen sculptures, insetting the organisms into the artworks. The series aims to celebrate the fascinating qualities of Lichen, its history and its role as a sensitive indicator of our environments. Shifting from mediums used in previous works, the series will use Jesmonite, exploring methods which emphasize the scope of its textures and applications as a versatile material.
The projects extends itself outside the sculptural realm as site specific journey. For the exhibit, Zuza will be joined by visual artist Seb Camilleri whose work often explores the transient nature of spaces we inhabit, or once did. Working with both rural and urban sites, he wishes to convey ideas surrounding the specific effects that spaces and architecture have on the emotions and behavior of individuals. The exhibit will showcase the sites chosen by both artists around England and will marry sculptural forms, photography and botanical inclusions into an investigation of material and organic articulation.
